Robert M. Dickson

Robert M. Dickson, 81 of Smithville, MO passed away, Saturday, August 2, 2014.

 

He was born on March 23, 1933 to Lester and Hulda Dickson in South Bend, Indiana.  Robert grew up in South Bend, Indiana and Coffeyville, Kansas, and graduated high school in Harvey, Illinois.   Robert then served his country in the U.S. Army in Germany and Austria.  After his honorable discharge he attended University of Kansas School of Pharmacy where he received his degree.  Robert was a Registered Pharmacist from 1960-1999.

 

On September 5, 1959 he was united in marriage to Diane Thornton.  After their marriage they lived in Eldorado, KS, Winfield, KS, and Junction City, KS.  In 1969 they moved to Smithville where they made their home. 

 

He was a member of Sertoma in Kansas, Jaycee’s in Kansas, and also Smithville Kiwanis.

 

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, and son, Eric Dickson.

 

He is survived by his wife, Diane, of the home; daughter Dawn Sportsman and husband Ken, son Robert Dickson and wife Lina; daughter Christine Dickson; daughter-in-law Deborah Dickson; granddaughters, Sophia, Briann, Alina, other relatives and friends.

 

Memorial Service:  11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 7th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville with visitation one hour prior to the service.

Donations may be made to Wounded Warrior Project or Smithivlle Kiwanis.
