Robert Horton Harvey
Robert Horton Harvey, 68 of Kansas City, MO, passed away Saturday, August 6, 2011.
He was born on December 21, 1942 in North Kansas City, MO. Bob grew up in Clay County and graduated from Smithville High School in 1960 where he was active in football and basketball. He later attended University of Missouri in Columbia, MO, Highland Community College in Highland, KS and Northwest Missouri University in Maryville, MO where he received scholarships to play football.
Bob lived in Tulsa, OK where he owned and operated the Bull and Bear Bar for a number of years. He then moved to West Palm Beach Florida where he owned and operated Harvey Lawn Service. Bob recently returned to Kansas City, MO where he made his home.
Bob was active in coaching his children’s youth basketball and football teams.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby June (Amos) and Charles Vandiver.
Bob is survived by his children, Derick Vaughan and wife, Kelly, Sugar Land, TX, Nick Harvey, and Lauren Harvey both of West Palm Beach, FL; grandson, Keenan Vaughan; sister, Donna Diebold and husband, Ron, Smithville, MO; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Memorial Service: 7:00 p.m. Friday August 12th at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville
