Robert F. “Bob” Edwards

Robert Franklin “Bob” Edwards, 88, of Smithville, MO., passed away, Saturday, March 1, 2014.

 

He was born on January 24, 1926 to Homer Lee and Mary Elizabeth (Mowery) Edwards in Kansas City, MO.  Bob attended school and grew up in Gashland, Liberty and later Smithville.

 

On January 20, 1945 he was united in marriage to Phyllis Breckenridge. After their marriage they lived in Smithville where they made their home.

 

Bob worked as a carpenter for Union Local 1904 for over 50 years. He served on the Smithville City Council, was Police Judge, and a member of the Volunteer Fire Department. He was also a member of the First Christian Church of Smithville.

 

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill Edwards and Homer "Buggs" Edwards; son-in-law, Carl "Butch" Rick and grandson-in-law, Shane Thomas.

 

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis, of the home; two sons; Terry Edwards and wife Shirley and Phil Edwards and wife Nicki; one daughter, Lee Ann Rick, all of Smithville; four grandchildren, Kelly, Gay Lynn, Brent and Brandi; six great-grandchildren, Taylor, Chase, Alyssa, Baylie, Ryan and Sterling; one brother, Richard Edwards and one sister, Mary Jean Christensen, both of Kansas City North; several nieces and nephews other relatives and many friends.

 

 

 

Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 6th at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville.

 

Burial: Smithville Memorial Cemetery

 

Visitation: 6:00-8:30 Wednesday at the funeral home.

 

In lieu of flowers donations to Smithville Senior Citizens Center.

    I am so sorry for your loss. Lee Ann, your dad was such a sweetheart. I remember many evenings at your house growing up, and was especially fond of your parents! My prayers and thoughts are with you and your family!
