Robert “Bob” Maxfield

Robert “Bob” Maxfield, 79, of Smithville  MO passed away, Monday, March 5, 2018.
 
He was born on September 8, 1938 to George Glenn and Grace Oneta (Hendrix) Maxfield in Trimble, MO.  Bob grew up in Smithville and graduated from Smithville High School.  He then served his country in the U.S. Army.
 
Bob was a lifelong resident of Smithville.  He retired from Hallmark Cards after 37 years of service.  Bob also owned and operated the Town Tavern in Smithville for 15 years.  
 
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Gara; and sister-in-law, Patricia Maxfield.
 
Bob is survived by his children, Chris Maxfield and wife Becky, Melanie Maxfield, Shelly Cook, and Bobbie Maxfield; grandchildren, Stephanie Maxfield (Jason) and Bryan (Cali) Maxfield, Matthew Maxfield, Gary (Ann) Cook, Adam (Tiffany) Cook, Micheal Maxfield; great-grandchildren, Serena, Avery, Silas, Lilly, Lincoln, Landon, Mason, Lyla, and Gracyn; brothers, George Maxfield and Glenn (Tanya) Maxfield; former wife, Janice Maxfield; step-son, Rob Smith; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
 
Funeral Services:  10:00 a.m. Friday, March 9th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville. 
Visitation:  6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Burial:  Ridgely Cemetery
 
Donations may be made to the Veteran’s Assistance Fund at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cameron.

    I am so sorry to hear of Bob passing. We were friends in high school and often talked about our hopes and plans after we finished school. He was one of the most popular members of the class of 1956.
