Robert Anthony McAndrews

Robert Anthony McAndrews, 90, of Kansas City, MO passed away February 27, 2014.

 

He was born on June 17, 1923 to Harry and Anna (Eberts) McAndrews in Portsmouth, IA where he grew up and attended school.  Bob then serviced his country in the US Army Air Corps during WWII.  While stationed in South Carolina he met and married Vera Seay.  They returned to Sioux City, IA where they raised their three children and made their home.  His wife Vera passed away on October 18, 1972. 

 

Bob was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary in Sioux City, IA and the American Legion and Chamber of Commerce in Smithville, MO.

 

Bob ran a beer truck, worked for Farrell Gas, worked for the packing plant, drove school bus for Sioux City School District, drove a tram for PGA Golf Tram and later owned and operated Mac’s Place all in Sioux City, IA.  After his retirement he moved to Smithville to live with his daughter and son-in-law Linda and Mike Buckmiller. 

 

He was also preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Pat and Harold McAndrews and sister-in-law, Eloise McAndrews.

 

Bob is survived by his children, Mike McAndrews and wife Catherine, Jerry McAnderews and wife Ellen and Linda Buckmiller and husband Mike; grandchildren, Lee, Alex, Morgan, Mitzi, Kelley, Laura, Patrick, Matthew, Zachary; step-grandchildren, Matthew and Jim; great-grandchildren Zoe and several to come; several nieces and nephews other relatives and many friends. 

 

Rosary:  6:00 p.m. Thursday, March 6th with visitation following from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville, MO

Mass 10:00 a.m. Friday March 7th at Holy Family Catholic Church, Kansas City, MO

Visitation 10:00-11:00 a.m. Saturday March 8th  at Myers Brothers Funeral Home in Sioux City, IA with burial following at Calvary Cemetery, Sioux City, IA.

Donations may be made to Smithville American Legion or Holy Family Catholic Church.
