Richard Shane Thomas

Richard Shane Thomas, 42, of Smithville, MO passed away Saturday, April 13, 2013.

 

He was born on August 12, 1970 to Richard C. and Vicki L. (Land) Thomas in Smithville, MO.  He grew up in Smithville and graduated from Smithville High School in 1989. 

 

On April 3, 1993 he was united in marriage to Gay Lynn Edwards.  After their marriage they lived in Smithville where they made their home.

 

Shane worked at Big V Country Mart in Smithville as a meat cutter for over 20 years.  He recently owned and operated the Smithville Town Tavern.  Shane was a great dad and was proud of his children and loved being involved in their activities.   

Shane always enjoyed playing cards, being around people and prided himself on being a PR Specialist.

 

He is survived by his wife, Gay Lynn Thomas; daughter, Taylor; son, Chase; parents, Richard “Cooney” and Vicki Thomas; brothers, Randy Thomas and wife Kim, and Steven Thomas and wife Ashley; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Terry and Shirley Edwards; brother-in-law, Kelly Edwards and wife Raschell; seven nieces and nephews, other relatives and many loving friends.

 

Funeral Service:  11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 18th at the First Christian Church in Smithville.

Burial:  Smithville Memorial Cemetery

Visitation:  6:00-9:00 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

Donations may be made in Shane’s memory to his wife and family.
