Richard Durham Stallard, Sr.
Richard Durham Stallard, Sr., 90, of Liberty, MO, passed away, Saturday, March 8, 2008.
He was born December 1, 1917 to Richard Winfield and Anna Belle (Shanks) Stallard near Dearborn, Missouri where he grew up and graduated high school. He then served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII as a Corporal in three campaigns in the Pacific Theater.
On July 17, 1942 he was united in marriage to Elaine Lucille Merry in Bangor, Maine, where Richard was serving in the military. After their marriage they lived in Bangor Maine, in 1951 they moved to Liberty, where they made their home, and later moved to Gladstone. His wife, Elaine, passed away, June 12, 2004 and he recently returned to Liberty.
Richard worked for Remmington Arms at Lake City Arsenal in Independence, MO, at the Water Treatment Plant for over 30 years.
He was also preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Allie Mae West, Rosalie Harmer, and Betty Wilmott.
Richard is survived by son, Richard D. Stallard, Jr., Plattsburg, MO, daughter, Linda Sue Stallard, of the home, four grandchildren, Christine, Debbie, Corey, and Jessica; five great-grandchildren, Haley, Austin, Katie, Colton, and Derek, one sister, Virginia Law, Dekalb, IL, several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Service: 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 12th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Edgerton, MO, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
Burial: Dearborn Cemetery, Dearborn.
