Richard Doyle Ziemer
Richard Doyle Ziemer, 87 of Overland Park, KS, passed away Friday February 8, 2013.
He was born on March 9, 1925 to Paul and Susan Ziemer. He attended Brownsdale School and Austin High School and later attended Bryan University for Pastoral Studies. He also served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII.
On September 7, 1946 he was united in marriage to Clara Elenore Bishop.
Richard pastored multiple rural churches in Tennessee, South Carolina, and Ohio. He was also involed in prison ministry in South Carolina, and 35 years at Leavenworth Honor Camp and Ladies and Mens Penitentiaries. Richard worked in Auto Body Shops for over 35 years as a bodyman, working his way into Body Shop Management. Before retiring he owned his own shop for 6 years.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents and son, Dickie Ziemer.
He is survived by his wife, Clara Ziemer; children, Judy Cooper and husband Roger, Timothy Ziemer and wife Angela; grandchildren, Nathan Myers and wife Selena and Jennifer Myers; great-grandchildren, Lucas and McKenna Myers; brother, James Ziemer of Ohio and sister Rosalie Bishop of Michigan, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday February 12th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to the service.
Burial with Military Honors: 12:30 p.m. Tuesday February 12th at Leavenworth National Cemetery
