Richard Bart Owens
Bart Owens, 72, of Raymore, MO, formerly of Camden Point, MO; fought a great fight and finished the course and passed into the presence of his Savior Jesus Christ. He died on April 26, 2010 at St. Joseph Medical Center of heart failure at 5:57 with his wife, Betsey at his side.
Richard Bart Owens was born on April 18, 1938 in St. Joseph, Missouri to John Richard and Norma C. (Pulliam) Owens. He was raised on the family farm (a Missouri Century farm settled in 1845) in Platte County outside of Camden Point, Missouri. Bart graduated from North Platte High School and attended the University of Missouri at Columbia where he was in the Alpha Gamma Sigma fraternity. He served for nine years in the US Army Reserves.
Bart worked for Farm Bureau Insurance, Cargill and then started and owned Owens Realty Inc. in Platte City with his former wife, Nadine Mallen Owens. Later, he worked at all the major real estate companies in the greater Kansas City area. He moved to Raymore, Missouri with his wife, Betsey Jung Owens and sold new homes for Higgins Building Company.
He was a member of the Raymore Christian Church, a past member of the Camden Point Christian Church where he was active as an Elder and Board member. Bart was involved extensively with the Lion’s Club in Platte City. He raised and bred Brangus cattle on the family farm. Bart also volunteered for the Uplift Organization in Kansas City.
Bart leaves his daughter Lisa Goin DDS (Rick), their children, Tyler and Lauren; his son, John Bart Owens (Dana), their children Tess, Bart P. and Tara; his step-daughters Francesca Fitzner (James) and their unborn daugther, Katrientje WitbolsFeugen, Teminka WitbolsFeugen and her daughter Cloe; his sister Gail Simmons (Gus) New Mexico, brothers and sisters-in-law, cousins and Bill’s friends.
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 1st at Raymore Christian Church with visitation 10:00-11:00 a.m. prior to the service.
Burial: 2:00 p.m. Saturday May 1st at the Camden Point Cemetery
Memorial gifts may be made to the Raymore Christian Church, Camden Point Christian Church or the Uplift Organization.
