Raymond Vernon Smith

Raymond Vernon Smith, 89, of Smithville, MO passed away, Thursday, December 21, 2017 at his home.
 
He was born on December 14, 1928 to Charles Fred and Gena (Amandsten) Smith in Des Moines, Iowa.  Ray served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
 
On October 22, 1955 he was united in marriage to Edith “Edie” Huntley. After their marriage they lived in Smithville where they made their home.  His wife, Edie, passed away, March 15, 2017.
 
Ray was a member of the First Baptist Church in Smithville.  He was a sheet metal worker for many years until he retired in 1990.  
 
He was also preceded in death by parents, brothers and sister and their spouses, Iver and Charlotte Smith, Fred and Thelma Smith, Lyle Smith, and Sally and Roger Gilliam.  
 
Ray is survived by his children Randy Smith and wife Connie, and Kelly Brown and husband Terry; grandchildren Randa and Lexus Brown and Cheyenne Smith; several nephews and nieces, other relatives and many friends.  

Private services will be held.

 
Book available to sign on January the 5th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home in Smithville for friends to sign.
