Rayford Monroe Pollard,Jr.
Rayford Monroe Pollard, Jr., 90, of Trimble, MO passed away January 13, 2017.
He was born on October 1, 1926 to Rayford M. and Effie Agnes (Smithwick) Pollard in Kennett, MO. He grew up and graduated high school in Arbyrd, MO. He then served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Arbyrd where he farmed.
On July 24, 1948, he was united in marriage to Vera Louise West. After their marriage, they lived in Arbyrd, MO, and in 1966 they moved to Platte City. While living in Platte City he worked as a sheet metal worker for Hobart in Kansas City. In 2005 they moved to Trimble.
He was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Edgerton.
Rayford was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Grace McClure and son-in-law Dennis McClure.
He is survived by his wife, Vera Pollard; two daughters, Mary Miller and husband, Henry and Carol McClure; two granddaughters, Melanie Bauer and husband Shawn and Elizabeth McClure; great-granddaughter Meghan Anderson and husband Josh; brother Robert Pollard and wife Susan; sisters Peggy Rose and Hilda Hamilton and husband Bob; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Services: 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 17th with visitation from 9:00-10:00 a.m. prior to the service all at Mt Zion Baptist Church, Edgerton.
Burial: Ridgely Cemetery.
Donations may be made to the church.
