Ray Allen Hoagland

Ray Allen Hoagland, 67, of Trimble, MO, passed away, Monday, July 14, 2008.

He was born on September 2, 1940 to Graydon Orla and Dorothy Agnes (Allen) Hoagland in Caldwell, Idaho. He grew up in rural Plattsburg, Missouri, where he attended school, and later finished high school in McGregor, Texas. He then served his country in the U.S. Navy. After his honorable discharge, Ray returned to the Plattsburg area.

On November 2, 1964 he was united in marriage to Carolyn Louise Montgomery. After their marriage they lived in Trimble where they made their home.

Ray worked for KOCH Refrigeration, Midwest Metal Products, and Zephyr Products.

He was an active member at the Smithville United Methodist Church.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Jerry, brother, Dave Hoagland, sister, Darlene Cary, and father-in-law, Chesley Montgomery.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn, of the home; son, David Hoagland and wife, Carol, Appleton City, MO; grandchildren, Cameron and Dawson; two brothers, Garry Matthews and wife, Betty, Sunnyvale, CA and Dan Hoagland and wife, Jan, Gilbert, AZ; mother-in-law, Genevieve Montgomery, St. Catherine, MO; and brother-in-law, James Montgomery and wife, Jean, Brookfield, MO; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Services: 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 18th at the Smithville United Methodist Church.

Graveside Service: 3:00 p.m. Friday at the Bear Branch Cemetery, Purdin, MO.

Visitation: 6:30-8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Smithville United Methodist Church.

Donations may be made to the Smithville United Methodist Church or the Bear Branch United Methodist Church.

    Carolyn,

    Sorry to hear of Ray’s passing. I have appreciated his and your leading in the Smithville United Methodist Church. I will be thinking of you and your son and his family. Your influence was felt during my many submarine patrols where Jeanette backed me up while I ministered as lay reader onboard.
