Rachael Myrrh Taul

Rachael Myrrh Taul, age 90, died on August 6, 2013 in Manassas, VA.  She was born on November 3, 1922 on the family farm near Smithville and attended local schools in Clay County, graduating from Smithville High School in 1940.  She received a B.S. in education from Northwest Missouri State University in 1943 and an M.S. in education from Cornell University in 1946.  Following graduate school she taught history at NWMSU in Maryville, as well as serving as the Dean of Students there. 

 

She moved to Denver, CO in 1954 and was retired from the Denver Public Schools, where she had been a high school teacher and administrator.  In Denver, she was a very active member of the Central Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), where she served as an elder and a Sunday school teacher.  She was also an active volunteer with the International Red Cross for many years.  She had made her home with family in Manassas since 2003.

 

She was preceded in death by her father, Lloyd Taul, in 1953; her mother, Violet Harbaugh Taul, in 1966; and two brothers, John Harbaugh Taul, in 1914, and Charles Hill Taul, in 1966.  She is survived by her sister, Mary Lloyd Taul Shultz, Manassas; her sister-in-law, Martha Whitman Taul, Hartselle, AL; three nieces, Rachael Anne Shultz, Manassas, Charlsa Taul Perdew (David), Eva, AL, and Candice Taul Williams (Benjamin), Ethiopia; a grandniece, Hannah Rachael Williams, Birmingham, AL; and a grandnephew, Jacob Paul Williams, Auburn, AL.

 

A graveside service will be held at the Smithville I.O.O.F. Cemetery at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 7.  Those who wish to attend are asked to meet at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home immediately prior to the service to travel to the cemetery.  For those who wish to make memorials, the family suggests contributions to the Smithville First Christian Church, 201 N. Bridge Street, Smithville, MO 64089.
