Peggy Leyerle

Peggy Leyerle, 95 of Kansas City, MO formerly of Chickasha, OK  passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2013.

 

She was born on August 19, 1918 to Mitchel Theodore and Jessie Ella (Salmon) Nelson in Seymour, TX. Peggy was the youngest child.  The family moved to Oklahoma when Peggy was one year old.  She graduated from Amber High School in 1936 and from the University of Oklahoma in 1940 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education.  Peggy was an elementary school teacher in Oklahoma for many years.

 

She was baptized when she was 12 and was active in the First Christian Church until her health prevented her from participation.

 

In 1943 Peggy was united in marriage to Ben E. Leyerle.  From this union, a daughter Linda Lou Ella Webster was born.  Her husband and daughter preceded her in death. 

 

Peggy is survived by her grandson, Ron Webster and wife Whitney, Platte City, MO; great-grandchildren, Addison and Marlee; other relatives and many friends.

 

Graveside Service:  11:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 13^th at  Ridgely Cemetery near Edgerton, MO with Visitation 10:00-11:00 a.m.  prior to the service at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home in Smithville.
