Paul N. Shy
Paul N. Shy, 69, of Kansas City, MO, formerly of Smithville, MO, passed away, Friday, February 13, 2009.
He was born on August 14, 1939 to Paul Nester and Mildred Ethel (Barsotti) Shy in St. Louis, Missouri where he grew up and graduated from Southwest High School. He then attended Missouri School of Mines in Rolla, Missouri where he received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He served in the U.S. Army at Ft. Leonardwood, Missouri.
He worked for Southwestern Bell in St. Louis, Joplin and Kansas City. He followed with a long successful banking career where he ultimately retired as President of Citizens Bank and Trust in Smithville.
Paul attended the Hoover Christian Church. He has served on the St. Luke’s Northland Hospital Board for 18 years, and also served as treasurer of UNICO in Kansas City. Paul loved to golf and spend time with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Paul is survived by his wife, Jackie, of the home; daughter, Allison McCrady and husband, Frank, Porter, TX; son, Craig Shy and wife, April, Fayetteville, AR; seven grandchildren, Phillip, Christopher and Caroline McCrady and Jordan, Payton, Austin and Audrey Shy; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Services: 11:30 a.m. Monday, February 16th at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville, with visitation prior to the service from 10:00-11:30 a.m.
Graveside Service: 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 17th at Lakewood Park Cemetery, St. Louis, MO.
Memorials may be made to Hoover Christian Church Missions Fund or St. Luke’s Hospital Foundation, Kansas City, MO.
