Paul Duane Pope

Paul Duane Pope, 53, Pettus, Texas formerly of Smithville, MO, passed away at his home, Thursday, June 5, 2008.

He was born on December 9, 1954 to Paul and Joann Pope in Smithville. He attended Smithville Schools and graduated in 1973. He moved to Pettus, Texas in 1991. There he was involved with the North Bee County Little League and followed in his father’s footsteps being an umpire and coaching many children in the art of baseball. He was a charter member of the Pettus Lions Club.

Paul was preceded in death by his father, Paul Paxton Pope, grandparents, Edgar and Leota Wait and John and Virginia Pope, several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He is survived by his mother, Joann Pope, Smithville, MO; one sister, Shirley Maxwell and husband, Richard, Jamesport, MO; three nephews, Jeremy Justus and Chelsie Orndorff, Jamesport, MO, Troy and Julie Justus, Kansas City, MO, and Anthony Justus, Knobnoster, MO; two step-nephews, Steve and Cheri Maxwell, Glenwood, IA and Erik Maxwell, Lee’s Summit, MO; one step-niece, Carrie and Todd Holcomb, Gallatin, MO; thirteen great nieces and nephews, two uncles, Walter Pope, Smithville, MO and Bill and Mary Lou Wait, Kingston, MO; and three aunts, Lee Sumpter, Bartlesville, OK, Marie Pope, Smithville, MO, and Pat and Larry Silvey, Mineral, TX.

Graveside Inurnment: 3:00 p.m. Monday, June 23^rd at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Smithville.
