Patrick Thomas
Patrick Mitchell Thomas, 54, of Preston, MO passed away June 18, 2022.
Patrick was born on November 15, 1967, to James C. Thomas, Jr. and Barbara (Farris) Thomas and was raised in Smithville, MO. Patrick accepted Jesus and was baptized on May 20, 1984. He graduated from Smithville High School in 1986.
Patrick was appointed to the Kansas City Police Department on May 10, 1993. He was later promoted to Sargent. His assignments included South Patrol Division and Employment Section, where he was assigned at the time of his retirement. He was presented the coveted Medal of Valor on November 29, 2001 and also Metro Chiefs/Sheriffs Association Gold for exemplary police work.
After retirement he enjoyed gardening and raising chickens. He liked keeping his friends and neighbors well supplied with vegetables and eggs.
Patrick is survived by his parents James and Barbara Thomas of Smithville, MO; brother James C. Thomas III (Sandra) of K.C., MO; sister Jill Vandegrift (Geoffrey) of Shawnee Mission, KS; uncles Richard A. Thomas of Brookhaven, NY, Clifford Farris (Emma) of Plattsburg, MO; son Dallas Thomas (Korynn) of Haleiwa, HI; daughter Jessica Merrill (Dakota) of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren Caleb, Emma and Ellie Merrill; nieces Shannon Ptomey (Reed) and Anne Thomas; nephews Calvin, Julian and Gilbert Vandegrift; many friends and neighbors from Preston, MO and special friends David Miller, Bob Strawn, and John Lozano.
Visitation 1:00 p.m. with Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 16th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, 104 West Church Street, Smithville, MO.
The family requests no flowers.
