Orval Lloyd Jensen
Orval
L. Jensen, 87 of Gower, MO passed away, Thursday December 17, 2015.
He
was born on April 13, 1928 to Harry and Bessie Jensen in Lincoln County,
Kansas. Orval grew up in Lincoln County
where he graduated high school. He then
served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge he worked for
the Bureau of Reclamation.
On
August 15, 1954 he was united in marriage to Zelma Gutscher. After their marriage they lived in various
places, living in Stockton, MO for 11 years, and settled in Gower, MO in 1974
where they made their home.
Orval
attended Kansas State University where he received his civil engineering
degree. He worked for the Corps of
Engineers for over 30 years working on various dams. After his retirement he owned/operated his
own construction business, building and repairing many homes. Orval enjoyed wood-working, reading western
books, and playing with his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Orval
was a member of the Gower Christian Church where he served in numerous
positions. Orval was also a member of
the Gower American Legion Post #393, 40 & 8, the Gower Lions Club where he
had 53 years of perfect attendance, and a member of the Old Timers Baseball Hall of
Fame.
He
was preceded in death by his parents, son Larry Jensen, brother, Floyd Jensen.
He
is survived by his wife, Zelma, of the home; children, Maria Faulkner and
husband Gary, Sondra Brinton and husband Dennis, Allan Jensen and wife Sally;
daughter-in-law, Tracey Jensen; fourteen grandchildren, nine
great-grandchildren; sisters, Irma Copeland and husband Darrell, Darlene Reed
and husband Melvin; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Dee Jensen, Arlena and
David Michael, Lennie Gutscher; several aunts, uncles, cousins; other relatives
and many friends.
Funeral
Service: 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 21st at the Gower Christian
Church AFC Building.
Visitation:
6:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday at the AFC Building.

Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower.
In
lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gower Christian Church or Gower Lions
Club.
