Orland “Lee” Hartman

Orland “Lee” Hartmann 77, of Kerrville, TX formerly of Mission, SD and Valentine, NE passed away on July 6, 2016 at the VA Hospital in Kerrville.

He was born on February 14, 1939 in Winner, SD, the 5th of 7 children of Christian L. “Pudge” Hartmann and Leona S. (Knittel) Hartmann.  He grew up in Mission, South Dakota where he graduated from high school.  He then served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1958 to 1970.

On July 12, 1980 he was united in marriage to Margaret Ann “Margy” Klein.  After their marriage they lived in Gower, St. Joseph, and moved to Kerrville, Texas in 1999.

Lee was an over the road truck driver and later worked for the U.S. Postal Service in St. Joseph, retiring in 1999.

He was a lifetime member of the VFW, Disabled Americans Vietnam, and a member of the American Legion.  Lee was also a member of the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church.  He enjoyed being around family and friends, grilling out, and watching NASCAR, football and other sports on T.V.  He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Lowell and sisters, Bernice and Mary Jean.

Lee is survived by his wife, Margaret “Margy” Hartmann, Gower, MO; sons, Bryan (Janet) Hartmann. Valentine, NE and Steven Emery of Pierre, SD; daughter, Judy Hartmann, Scottsbluff, NE; five grandsons; four great-grandchildren; brother, Melvin Hartmann, Kilgore, NE; sisters, Darlene Barry, Rapid City, SD and Lois Hartmann, Black Hawk, SD; nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law, Jack (Shari) Klein and Pat Klein, all of Gower, MO.

Memorial Service:  2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 31st at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower with visitation one hour prior to the service.
