Oliver F. Hendrix

Oliver Faye Hendrix, 89, of Dearborn, MO passed away Friday, January 1, 2016.

He was born on March 5, 1926 to Elisha Calvin and Orphia Anne (Hazlet) Hendrix in Davis City, IA.  Oliver attended school in Decatur County, IA.  He served his country in the U.S. Army as a Paratrooper from 1944-1946 during WWII in the South Pacific.

On March 5, 1949 he was united in marriage to Betty Elaine Carrico.  After their marriage they lived in Belmond, IA, Leon, IA, Council Bluffs, IA, Kansas City, MO and in 1964 they moved to rural Dearborn.  Oliver and Betty made their home in Dearborn where they raised their children, including their two grandchildren, Rachel and Ryan.  They had children in school for over 40 years.

Oliver was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon.  He was also a member of the American Legion and the VFW.  Oliver taught square dancing for the youth and was a Boy Scout Master.

He owned and operated Hendrix Refrigeration, Feed Supplements and he also ran a back hoe business.     

Oliver was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Sandra Elaine Hendrix-Kennedy, brothers Chester, Ed, Bill, and Jim Hendrix; sisters Ruby and Jessie.

He is survived by his wife Betty Hendrix; sons Dennis Hendrix and wife Kathy, Randal Hendrix and wife Paula, Ricky Hendrix; grandchildren Tonya (Scott) O’Brien, Troy (Amanda) Hendrix, Tacy (Clayson) Lyons, Jason Hendrix, Rene Anderson, Andrew (Katie) Hendrix, Rachel Hendrix, Ryan Hendrix, Ross Hendrix, Reid Hendrix, Richelle Hendrix, Riqueza Hendrix, and Hawk (Charlie) Kennedy-Williams; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.    

Funeral Services:  1:00 p.m. Wednesday January 6th with visitation from 12:00-1:00 p.m. prior to the service at Mt. Zion Baptist, Edgerton, MO.

Burial:  Reed Cemetery.

Donations may be made to the church or the cemetery.
