Olan J. Thrasher
Olan J. Thrasher, 85, of Plattsburg, MO passed away Saturday, November 5, 2016.
He was born on December 27, 1930 to Owen W. and Mary (Shaw) Thrasher in Kansas City, MO where he grew up and graduated from high school. He then served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Kansas City.
On March 12, 1965, he married Betty (Fox) Rick. After their marriage, they lived in Pleasant Valley and Smithville and in 2005 moved to Trimble where they made their home.
Olan worked as an inspector for TWA for 30 years, retiring in 1992.
He was a member of the Randolph Baptist Church and later the Mt. Olivet Christian Church. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #58 in Smithville where he was past commander and he was a 40 year member of the IAM Union Local 60.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Dorothy Malone, Ruth Hess, Carol Dexter, Mary Wanda Lee Thrasher, Mary Lou Davis and Eleanor Alkire.
He is survived by his wife, Betty of the home, son, Robert Olan Thrasher; daughter Rose Ann (Ray) Simms; step-sons Phillip (Lisa) Rick, Tommy (Renee) Rick, and Marty (Sharon) Rick; step-daughters Judy Houston, Rita Cressley, and Phyllis (Bruce) Britz; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers Joe (Dorothy) Thrasher and Pat (Darlinda) Thrasher; sisters Delores Hensley and Theresa Ralston; other relatives and many friends.
Public Viewing: 10:00-11:00 a.m. Wednesday November 9th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower
Graveside Service and Burial: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday November 9th at Leavenworth National Cemetery
