Norma Gene Thompson
Norma Gene Thompson, 83, of Smithville, MO, passed away, Sunday, July 15, 2007 at St. Luke’s Northland Hospital.
She was born on August 27, 1923 to Walter and Lula Mae (Sears) Petzold in Wyandotte County in Kansas City, KS, where she grew up and graduated high school.
On May 3, 1942 she was united in marriage to D. “Bob” Thompson. After their marriage they lived in Smithville where they made their home.
Norma was a Sunday School teacher and also worked in the nursery in her church. She was currently a member of the Metro Baptist Church in Kansas City.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Norma is survived by her husband of 65 years, Bob, of the home; son, David Thompson and wife, Nelda, Smithville, MO; three granddaughters, Charity Thompson, Smithville, MO, Faith Thompson, Topeka, KS, and Hope Thompson, St. Joseph, MO; one great-grandson, David Shane Thompson; brother, Gerry Petzold, Smithville, MO; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Service: 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 18th at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville, MO, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
Burial: Ridgley Cemetery, Ridgely, MO.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Metro Baptist Church, 1510 NW Vivian Rd, Kansas City, MO 64418.
