Nick Spaeth
NICK SPAETH
Nick Spaeth, 91, of Gower, MO passed away Saturday, March 25, 2006 at his home.
He was born October 3, 1914 to Fred and Elizabeth Margaret (Reinart) Spaeth in Gainesville, Texas. In 1921 the family moved to the Easton and Gower areas where he attended school.
On March 27, 1943 he was united in marriage to Louise Schuster in St. Joseph. After their marriage they lived in Gower where they made their home.
Nick worked for the Missouri State Highway Department. In 1947 he opened Spaeth Feed & Seed Store in Gower that he owned and operated until retiring in 1989.
Nick was one of the founders of the Gower Volunteer Fire Department where he served as Chief for 14 years, was a Gower City Councilman, a member of the Gower FFA Alumni, the Gower Medical Center Board and the Old Timer’s Baseball Hall of Fame.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Andy, Joe and Glenn Spaeth and grandson, Travis Spaeth.
Nick is survived by his wife of 63 years: Louise, of the home, four sons: Gary Spaeth and wife, Kathy, Ballwin, Mo., Fred Spaeth and wife, Patti, Darrel Spaeth and wife Linda and Terry Spaeth, all of Gower, Mo., four grandchildren: Shawn, Brandon and wife, Kara, Andrea and Belinda Spaeth, great-grandson: Luke Nicholas Spaeth, brother: Bud Spaeth and wife Eileen, sisters: Stene Pioch and husband Richard and Sally Hager and husband, Gus, all of St. Joseph, numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Graveside Service and Inurnment: 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 28th at Allen Cemetery, Gower, MO.
There will be no visitation, a registry book is available for signing at the funeral home.
Donations may be made to the charity of donor‘s choice.
