Nell J. (Johnson) Heath
Nell J. Heath, 78, of Edgerton, MO, passed away, Saturday, April 5, 2008.
She was born on March 15, 1930 to Edwin and Hallie (Moore) Johnson near Edgerton, Missouri, where she grew up. Nell graduated from Edgerton High School in 1948, and then attended St. Joseph Junior College. She taught at The Franklin School and the North Platte School District in Edgerton. In her later years she served as a substitute teacher and a teacher’s aid for various local school districts.
On November 21, 1951 she was united in marriage to Harold Allen Heath. After their marriage they lived near Ridgely, and later moved to their current home where they farmed, north of Edgerton.
She was a former member of the Edgerton Methodist Church where she was active in Vacation Bible School, was a Sunday School Teacher, and was the church treasurer for 21 years. Nell was a member of the Ridgely Christian Church and the Order of the Eastern Star in Edgerton.. Nell was involved with 4-H for 9 years and served as a Community Leader. She was named Beta Sigma Phi Sorority Woman of the Year in 1984. Nell was involved in PTA and FFA, as well as her children and grandchildren’s activities.
Nell was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Charles Edwin Johnson and Howard Johnson, and one sister, Mary Frances Smith.
She is survived by her husband, Harold, of the home; one son, Ed Heath and wife, Melissa, Kansas City, MO; one daughter, Deanna Adkins and husband, Vernon, Camden Point, MO; three grandsons, Jacob Adkins, Joshua Heath, and Grant Adkins; nieces and nephews, Linda Garner, Cheryl Phillips, Judy Johnson, Chuck Johnson, Harold Smith, and Marion Millay; numerous great nieces and nephews, and many friends.
Funeral Services: 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 7th at the Ridgely Christian Church, Ridgely, MO.
Burial: Ridgely Cemetery.
Visitation: 5:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday at the church.
Donations may be made to the Ridgely Christian Church.
