Nathaniel “Tanny” Shanks
Nathaniel “Tanny” Shanks, 40, left this life unexpectedly on Saturday, July 27th at his farm home south of Dearborn.
He was born in Smithville, MO on August 18, 1972 to Don and Cathy Shanks.
Tanny worked hard for various truck lines as a mechanic for years. While employed at Scherer Truck Line he received rewards for a tool that he created to use in diesel engines. He was proud of the many certifications he received. Tanny was a truck driver and cement mason for several years at Platte County Readi Mix. He later worked at private companies.
He had raised and sold registered coon hounds under the kennel name Black Moon Blue Ticks.
Tanny was an avid outdoorsman. He had a strong passion for hunting, fishing, and caring for the family farm. He was a history buff, motorcycle enthusiast, enjoyed genealogy, and loved John Wayne movies. He also was a loving father and son. Tanny was a member of the New Market Christian Church.
Those who have gone before him are paternal grandparents, John and Alice Shanks, his father Donald, his maternal grandparents who helped raise him, J.C. and Bettie Lou Stubbs, and brother Matthew Beck.
Tanny leaves to mourn his passing his daughter Maizey Morgan Shanks, his mother, Cathy, of the home; brother Eric “Brett” Shanks, Lathrop, MO; special aunt and uncle, Kenneth and Saralyn Hay, Camden Point, MO; and uncle and neighbor Clinton Mullendore; and other aunts, uncles, and cousins. He also leaves three special friends from the animal kingdom, his horse Pork Chop, his cat Steven, and his blue Pit Bullit.
Memorial Service: 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 3rd at New Market Christian Church with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.

Memorials may be made to Missouri Dept. of Conservation or to his daughter for a memorial bench.
