Myrtle “Woots” Crawford Moore

 

Myrtle “Woots” Moore, 94, of Platte City, MO, passed away, Tuesday, December 7, 2010.

She was born on June 3, 1916 to James Garfield and Vergie (Bernard) Crawford in Hawkins County, Tennessee. When she was a child her family moved to Grayson, Missouri, where she grew up.

On June 28, 1941 she was united in marriage to Raymond A. Moore. After their marriage they lived in rural Platte County where they farmed and made their home. For many years they sold vegetables at the City Market in Kansas City, where her and Raymond met. In the early 1940’s, Woots and Raymond sang on the local radio station and recorded music. Her husband, Raymond, passed away October 8, 1992.

Woots loved her dogs, being outdoors and gardening.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Ruby Meyers, Lois Thironet, Opal Bradley, and one brother, Kermit Crawford.

Woots is survived by her son, Roger Moore, Platte City, MO; several cousins, and nieces and nephews, and many friends.

Visitation: 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 10, 2010 at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville, with Graveside Service following at 2:30 p.m. at Second Creek Cemetery, Kansas City, MO.
