Myrtle Mae (McClain) Reineke

Myrtle Mae Reineke, 81, of Smithville, MO passed away Friday, December 7, 2012.

 

She was born on August 25, 1931 to Garland Winford and Julia Mae (Shannon) McClain in Clinton County Missouri.  She graduated from Edgerton High School.  Myrtle later graduated from Northwest Missouri State Teachers College in Maryville, MO with a Bachelors in Education.   

 

On November 27, 1953 she was united in marriage to Robert Lee Reineke.  After their marriage they farmed in the Mecca area and in 1965 they moved near Trimble.  Her husband Robert passed away on December 6, 1984.

 

Myrtle taught for over 42 years starting in a one room school house and completed her career teaching for the North Platte School District.   Through her years of teaching, Myrtle was able to teach at least three generations of students. 

 

She was a lifelong active member of the Trimble Baptist Church where she was the organist and pianist.  Myrtle was a 4-H Leader.  She was also a member of Sunny Side Circle and Beta Sigma Phi and volunteered at Spelman Memorial Hospital and North Kansas City Hospital. 

 

Myrtle was also preceded in death by her parents.

 

She is survived by two sons, Charles Winford Reineke and wife Corky, Edgerton, MO and Gary Lee Reineke, Chicago, IL ; two granddaughters, Stacia Leigh Cudd and husband Tom, Smithville, MO and Seanica Otterby and husband Jimmy, Kansas City, MO; one great-grandson, Eli Cudd; one sister, Wilma Jean Pigg, Smithville, MO; sisters-in-law, Ruby Wolfe, Louise Mindrup and Marian Reineke; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.  

 

Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 10th at the Trimble Baptist Church

Burial:  Ridgley Cemetery

Visitation:  4:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations to NorthCare Hospice or Trimble Baptist Church Music Fund

    Mrs. Reineke was my 6th grade teacher. She was strict but I really liked her. When I would run into her in the recent years she always acted like she knew me. That made me feel good. My thoughts go out to the family.
