Millie Barnhill

Mildred Barnhill, 100, of Gower, MO passed away Monday, March 11, 2019.

She was born on October 13, 1918 to Jesse Jacob and Bertha (Lee) Harris in Clay County, MO. She grew up in the Smithville area and graduated from Smithville High School.

Millie was united in marriage to William Chester Barnhill. After their marriage they lived in Kearney, Trimble and Plattsburg. He preceded her in death in 1962. Millie later moved to Gower where she made her home.

Millie was a member of the First Baptist Church in Smithville. She enjoyed attending the Gower Goodtimers and loved to dance and listen to country music. She was a member of the Chat-N-Nibble Club and attended the Gower Senior Center where she taught line dancing.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, brother, Harold “Shorty” Harris; sisters, Beulah Brown and Faye Harris; and son, Dale Barnhill.

Millie is survived by her sons, Harold Barnhill and wife Debbie and Dennis Barnhill and wife Linda; grandchildren, Michelle (Scott) Frazier, Chad (Shannon) Barnhill, Korey Barnhill, Rachelle Holmes, Marc (Leila) Dunn, Amy (Joe) Cunningham; eleven great-grandchildren; brother, Howard (Cathy) Harris; sister, Eva Scott; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Services: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 14th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower.

Burial: Mt. Zion Cemetery

Visitation: 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Donations may be made to the Gower Convalescent Center.
