Mildred “Millie” Fern (Boydston) Lober

Mildred ?Millie? Fern (Boydston) Lober, 88, of Dearborn, MO passed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 4, 2008.

 

She was born on April 22, 1920, the second of ten children, to Norton Payne and Marvin Anna (Chesnut) Boydston in Edgerton, MO where she grew up and attended school.

On December 25, 1938, she was united in marriage to Grover Lee Lober. After their marriage, they lived in Weston, Easton, Edgerton, and Gower communities until they moved to Dearborn in 1968 where they made their final home. Grover passed away on March 17, 1996.

Millie was a lifelong member of the United Methodist faith with last membership being at the Dearborn United Methodist Church. Millie worked for the United Brotherhood of Carpenters Local #110 in St Joseph MO for 40 years, retiring from there in 1989. She was the first woman to be granted membership into the Kansas City District Council of United Brotherhood of Carpenters and recently celebrated 50 years of union membership. She also worked many years as ticket taker for the Union Mill Opry in Edgerton, MO. She was a member of the Democratic Party.

Millie was an avid Gospel music supporter and promoter. She was active in bringing her communities the music of many gospel groups including James Blackwood and the Blackwood Brothers Quartet.

Millie was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Irvin Boydston, M.C. Boydston, Owen Boydston, and Howard Boydston and a sister, Anna Eunice Palmer.

Millie is survived by son, Donald Lee Lober and wife Pat, Gower; daughters Elizabeth Ann Tarrance and husband Johnnie, Elloree, SC and Susan Kay Lober, Dearborn; grandchildren Lee Dawn, Amy, Leslie, Tammy and Terri; great-grandchildren, Katelee, Elijah, Gideon, Ian, Ryan-Patrick, Karlee and Christopher; brothers, Stanley Boydston and wife, Sue, Agency, Leonard Boydston and wife, Barbara, New Braunsfel, TX; sisters, Adella Mae Foxworthy, Kansas City, and Martha Jean Surls and husband, Merril, Kansas City; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Graveside Inurnment: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 14th at the Dearborn Cemetery

Celebration of Life Memorial Service: 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 14th at the Dearborn United Methodist Church.
