Mildred L. Filkil
Mildred Lee Filkil, 89, of Edgerton, Mo., passed away, Thursday, March 1, 2007 .
She was born on October 18, 1917 to Arthur and Gladys (Dollins) Deaver and was later adopted by Joseph Bruce and Stella Frances (Denny) Harvuot, in Edgerton MO, where she grew up and attended school.
On November 13, 1935 she was united in marriage to William Estel Taylor in Wathena, KS. After their marriage they lived in Trimble, MO where they made their home. On June 13, 1965 Bill passed away. Later in life she met Virgle Glenn Filkil and married him on August 19, 1973 in Kansas City, MO. Virgle passed away June 16, 1993.
Mildred worked for National Bellas Hess and later Farmland Industries retiring after 17 years. She was a member of the Edgerton Christian Church, the Beta Sigma Phi, the Monthly Lunch Group, the Red Hat Club, and the Adelphi Chapter 389 Order of the Eastern Star.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, adopted parents, one brother, Aaron Johnston, two great-grand children, Joseph Robert and Alonzo Aaron Adkins.
Survivors include two daughters, Frances Joahn Rice and husband, Larry of Gladstone, MO. and Betty Carol Williams and husband, Larry Joe of Edgerton, MO, three step-daughters, Linda Tjarks and husband Jim of Mullvane, KS, Carol Filkil of Kansas City, MO, and Virginia Carpenter and husband Bob of St. Joseph, MO, five grandchildren, Travis, Bret, T.J., Lyle and Lonnie, seven step-grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, a step-sister Maxine Sprague of Plattsburg, MO, a half-brother Pat Deaver of Kansas City, MO, several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Service: 3:00 p.m., Sunday, March 4th at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Edgerton with visitation from 1:00-3:00 p.m. prior to the service
Burial: Ridgely Cemetery, Ridgely, MO
Donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or the Edgerton Christian Church
