Mildred Grace (Helvey) Hambley
Mildred Grace (Helvey) Hambley, 87, of Belton, MO formerly of Smithville, MO, passed away, Friday, June 6, 2008.
She was born on September 18, 1920 to A.C. “Jake” and Nora Evelyn (Braman) Helvey in Weston, Missouri. She grew up in Smithville and graduated from Smithville High School.
On October 15, 1949 she was united in marriage to H.D. Hambley. After their marriage they lived in Clinton, MO, and later moved to Belton, MO, where they made their home. Her husband passed away, May 10, 1972.
Mildred worked as a telephone operator in Smithville, and was a clerk at TG&Y in Belton.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Smithville and later the Heartland Baptist Church in Belton.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, her son Earl Chris Hambley, two sisters, Creola Senkfeil and Opal Porter, and one brother, C.A. Helvey.
She is survived by one sister, Anna Dolores Moreland, Smithville, MO; one brother, Robert Helvey and wife, Phyllis, Kansas City, MO; three nieces, Susan and Lisa Helvey and Vivan Senkfeil, all of Smithville; one nephew, Paul Porter, Hayden, AL, daughter-in-law, Wanda Hambley, her beloved dog, Blackie, and friends.
Graveside Service: 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 10th at Belton Cemetery, Belton, MO.
