In Remembrance Of
Mike Willcoxson
Michael “Mike” Willcoxson, 53, of Edgerton, MO, passed away Friday, September 30, 2016.
He was born on July 4, 1963 in Independence, MO. Mike grew up in Kansas City North and graduated from North Kansas City High School. Mike was a truck driver for Rent-A-Center in Kansas City.
One of Mike's biggest passions was fishing, alone or with friends, and he caught some whoppers! He loved his Thursday night fishing league and all the friends he made there. You could walk into his house anytime and see some of his biggest catches mounted and displayed. Another passion was racing – he loved dirt track racing but especially sprint cars. He also loved watching Nascar and drag racing, anything that went fast! When you went to their house, he would proudly show you one of his many collectibles. When he was at a race track he would stand for hours to get an autograph from a racer on one of his collector cars. He loved to travel; he and Genea made their way around the country over the years. Some of his favorite trips were to the northwest to see the Red Woods and whale watch; Hawaii, and pretty much every cruise they took. If you met Mike once, you were a friend for life. Mike lived life to the fullest, and exactly how he wanted to. If he was around you knew you were going to have a good time! He will be remembered for his mischievous smile, his smart-a** way of giving you a hard time, which meant that he really loved you, and so many more things! He was a true friend that always had your back.
He was preceded in death by his Mother, Judy Ann (Todd) Cain, nephew, Chris Bartholomew; father, Richard Lowell Willcoxson, his grandparents and best friend, Joe “Herm” Whitworth.
Mike is survived by his fiancé and love of his life, Genea McMackin, of the home; sisters, Misty Kirwan and husband Dave, Kelli Cain and wife Stephanie Whittler, and Shelly Cassels; father, Robert Cain; niece, Kaitlyn; nephews, Frank and Dylan; great nieces Leilani and EmmaJean; His fiance's parents, Chuck and Pansy Laney, sisters & brothers in law and families; numerous relatives and many friends, who meant the world to him.
Visitation: 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, October 3rd at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville with friends and family sharing stories of Mike at 7:30 p.m.
