In Remembrance Of

Mike Frazier
Michael Metz Frazier, 83, of Gower, MO passed away April 15, 2025.
Mike was born May 4, 1941 to Clifton Vaughn and Evelyn May (Metz) Frazier in St. Joseph, MO. He grew up in rural Gower and graduated from Gower High School in 1959. Continuing his education, he attended Missouri Western State College where he played basketball.
On September 10, 1960, he was united in marriage to Linda Sue Bland. They lived in Gower where they made their home.
Mike worked for Quaker Oats in Chicago, Illinois for a year before moving back to Gower. In 1969 he and Linda founded Frazier Oil LP & Gas Co. where he worked until he retired. Even after retiring, Mike kept an office, though it served more as a quiet spot for his famous naps with his feet up on the desk. He stayed connected to the business, offering advice when asked (and sometimes when he hadn’t been asked), always keeping a watchful eye on how things were running.
He was a member of the KC Car Club, Gower Volunteer Fire Department, and the Gower Christian Church. Mike enjoyed many hobbies including spending time checking on his farm, refinishing vintage cars, creating woodworking projects, traveling, playing poker with his local friends, meeting the guys every weekday morning for coffee, monthly luncheons with his former MWSC teammates, watching professional and local sports teams.
Mike was known for his ornery sense of humor—quick with a witty remark or a dry observation that would catch you off guard and leave you laughing. His commentary was often quiet, but always thoughtful, intelligent, and sharp. That sharp mind stayed with him until the very end, offering insight, humor, and perspective that his family and friends cherished. Above all, he loved being a husband, dad, Gpa, and great-Gpa and was dearly loved by them all.
He was preceded in death by his wife Linda; his parents Clifton and Evelyn Frazier; sisters Joan K. Horton and Elizabeth A. West and brothers Patrick K. Frazier and Roy C. Frazier and his loyal dog and bestest buddy, Jaxon.
Mike is survived by his children; Mardi (Alan) Smith, Traci (Steve) Koon and Scott (Michelle) Frazier; grandchildren Kelsey (Grant), Grant, Derek (Shinea), Jordan (Irina), Kaleigh, Denton (Logan), Benjamin and Patrick (Brittney); great-grandchildren Riley, Gentree, Olivia, Madeleine, Willa, Arlo, and Rowan; other relatives and many friends.
Visitation & Service: 4:30-6:00 p.m. Friday, May 23 (Memorial Day Weekend) at the Gower Christian Church AFC Building with a celebration of life service following from 6:00 – 6:30 p.m.
Burial: A private family ceremony will be held at Allen Cemetery.
In lieu of plants or flowers, the family suggest contributions be made to the Gower Christian Church or the Allen Cemetery.
