Michael Henry Roady, Sr.

Michael Henry Roady, Sr., 74, of St. Joseph, MO, passed away, Friday, May 28, 2010 at Heartland Regional Medical Center.

He was born on September 16, 1935 to Otis Elmer and Isabelle Lucille (Sharp) Roady in St. Joseph where he grew up and attended Webster Elementary and Lafayette High School.

On August 20, 1954 he was united in marriage to Margaret Helen Gibson. After their marriage they lived in St. Joseph.

Mike worked for Big Smith in St. Joseph and drove a milk truck. He drove for Byers Truckline, Seitz, Affiliated Foods, all in St. Joseph. After his retirement, Mike continued to drive for Crabtree-Harmon in Gower, MO, and Center Bill 40 Sunshine County.

He was a member of the St. Paul Methodist Church, Teamsters Union #460, the Amazonia Lions Club and enjoyed going to Burger King for coffee with the boys.

Mike was sexton and caretaker of Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in St. Joseph, was a professional wrestler, known as “Mike The Mauler” for Gus Karris and was a member of the Old Timer’s Baseball Hall of Fame in Gower.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Mary Lucille Best.

Mike is survived by his wife, Margaret; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Jo Roady, Gower, MO., daughter and son-in-law, Dianna and Rick McMillian St. Joseph, MO, granddaughter, Tawnya Rechterman, Gower, MO and great-grandson, Tyler Michael Rechterman, three brothers, Bob Roady and wife Eleanore, Gary Roady and Kenneth Roady and wife, Kathy, all of Phoenix, Arizona, several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 2nd at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower.

Burial: Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, St. Joseph.

Visitation: 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.
