Melvin “Spud” Snow
Melvin “Spud” Snow, 73 of Platte City, MO, passed away, Monday, July 30, 2012.
He was born on October 12, 1938 to Woodrow Wilson and Lala Irene (Hulet) Snow in North Kansas City, MO where he grew up and attended school.
On December 11, 1959 he was united in marriage to Shirley Wilhoit. After their marriage they lived in Smithville and in 1971 moved to Tracy where they made their home.
Spud worked for North Kansas City Lumber, Foster Lumber in Liberty, International Paper in Fairfax, and retired from McCray Lumber in Fairfax after 36 years in the lumber business. He had a love for the outdoors, gardening and drinking coffee.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Bud Snow and sister, Joann Powell.
Spud is survived by his wife, Shirley, of the home; son, Sonny (Debbie) Snow; daughter, Kelly (Kris) Rukavina, all of Platte City, MO; six grandchildren, Crystal, Troy, Kevin, Casey, Amber, and Alyssa; six great-grandchildren, Zachary, Kylie N., Kylie S., Hayden, Riley, and Trent; brothers, Ron (Sandy) Snow, Bill (Kathy) Snow; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 3rd at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville.
Burial: Second Creek Cemetery
Visitation: 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Donations may be made to the Landmark Baptist Church.
