Melva Allison

Melva Louise (Smith) Allison, 87, of Independence, MO passed away, Monday, January 1, 2018 surrounded by her loved ones, just as she was her whole life.
 
She was born on March 17, 1930 to Harold and Lena Smith in Harris, Missouri.  At 16, she moved to Kansas City to work at the Kansas City Bus Station and later became a line
operator for Dolly Madison Bakery, where she met the love of her life, Loyd Allison.  They were married on August 25, 1950 and moved to Independence, Missouri to make their permanent home and raise
their three daughters and one son.  Melva loved caring for her more than 25 grandchildren and great-grandchildren that kept her very busy.  In her free time, she played bingo and poker with friends, or hit the local garage sales, watched the Royals or Chiefs games and enjoyed country music concerts.  She also liked to mushroom hunt and fish at family get-togethers or join her kids’ on family vacations and cruises.
 
Melva was preceded in death by her parents; her husband for 48 years, Loyd Allison; and one daughter, Glenda Kim Allison; her sisters, Amber Lou Hickle and Mildred Peterson; brothers Melvin “Ray” Smith and Milford “Russ” Smith; sister-in-law Hazel Zumbrunnen; and brother-in-laws Jack Allison and Raymond Holiman.
 
Those left to cherish Melva’s memories are her two daughters, Brenda (Jerry) Noland of Raymore, MO, and Ronda (Ronnie) Price of Harrisonville, MO, and her son, Keith Douglas Allison of Independence, MO; 12
grandchildren, John Noland of Belton, MO; Tasha Noland of Raymore, MO; Kaylia Hirtle, Molly Allison and Karsen Allison of Independence, MO; Benjamin Price of Kansas City, MO; Patricia Price of Harrisonville, MO; William Lee (Jody) Price of Forney, TX; Kari (Aaron) Murray of Iowa Park, TX; Jessica (Brad) Kinnard ofOak Grove, MO; Mariah Willenborg of Little Elm, TX, Allison Willenborg of Independence,
MO; and 14 great grandchildren; four brothers, Rex (Sophie) Smith of Gower, MO; George (Jan) Smith of Anchony, IA; Ron (Marcia) Smith of Fernald, IA; and Jerry (Marilyn) Smith of Nevada, IA; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
 
Funeral Services:  1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 6th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
Burial:  Allen Cemetery, Gower, MO.

    So glad we shared a few laughs this summer during the total eclipse! Five of us shared one pair of glasses to view the eclipse and Mrs Allison said “Is that it???” The Allisons’ have been the perfect neighbors since I was four. We will miss her.
