MELBA M. WOOD

Melba Maxine Wood, 85, of Blue Springs, MO, formerly of St. Joseph and Gower, MO, passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2006.

She was born on May 22, 1921 to Jesse and Gertrude Bledsoe in Gower, MO, where she grew up.

On June 24, 1943 she was united in marriage to Joseph Elby “Joe” Wood. After their marriage they lived in Frazier, MO and in 1949 moved to St. Joseph where they made their home. Her husband, Joe, passed away on January 16, 1998. They had one daughter, Sharon.

Melba was also preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Robert and JC Bledsoe and sisters, Dorothy Herring and Geraldine Alexander.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Jim Brachtesende, Independence, MO, grandson, Daniel Brachtesende, Washington, DC, several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Graveside Service and Burial: 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 15th at Frazier Cemetery
