Maynard E. “Skip” Hassler

Maynard E. “Skip” Hassler, 76, of Easton, MO passed away, Tuesday, July 12, 2016

He was born on April 9, 1940 in the Phil Welch House on Old 40 Hwy in Abilene, KS to Maynard E. and Roberta R. (Minert) Hassler.  Skip graduated from Dickinson County Community High School in Chapman, KS.

On September 4, 1964 he was united in marriage to Betty E. McDonald.  After their marriage they lived in Salina, KS and in 1978 they moved to Easton where they made their home.

Throughout Skip’s life he worked on the family farm, worked at gas stations, built highway bridges, worked for Boeing and Beech Aircraft, Thermo Flex, and Jarvis Plastics.  Skip was a supervisor in the Fiberglass Department at Altec starting in 1978 and retiring in 2006.

Skip most of all loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.  He also enjoyed golf, model trains, rodeo, gardening, working in the yard, leather work and carpentry.

Skip was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Dennis D. Hassler.

He is survived by his wife, Betty, of the home; sons, Dustin Hassler and wife Carla, Easton, MO and Casey Hassler, Gilbert, AZ; grandchildren, Amanda (Tyler) Stout, Alisha Hassler, Alexis Hassler, and Bridget Hassler; great-grandson, Kieran Hassler; brother, Larry (Martie) Hassler, sister-in-law, Eva Hassler; and brother-in-law, James (Vicki) McDonald; numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Visitation: 6:00-9:00 p.m. Friday, July 15th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower.

Celebration of Life will be held Saturday at 4:00 p.m. at Dustin and Carla’s home.  Family and friends are invited. 

Private family Inurnment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ascera Care Hospice or Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund.
