Maye Prokop
Maye Prokop, 96, of Wilber, NE, passed away, Monday, January 10, 2011 at the Gower Convalescent Center.
She was born on February 20, 1914 to William and Emma (Vostrez) Jiskra in Swanton, Nebraska. Maye grew up on a farm southwest of Swanton and graduated from Swanton High School in 1932.
On August 18, 1936 she was united in marriage to Edwin J. Prokop in Sioux City, Iowa. After their marriage they lived on a farm near Wilber, and in 1976 they retired and moved to Wilber. Her husband, Edwin, passed away, December 13, 1999.
Maye was a member of Pythian Sisters Parthenia Temple #9 of Wilber, and was a volunteer at the Wilber Care Center and a member of the Nursing Home Willing Workers for 20 years. She was also a social member of ZCBJ Lodge #70 of Wilber.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Lydia Sasek, Olga Tyser, Erma Kubes, Emma Jiskra and Bertha Andrews; brother, Elmer Jiskra; infant twin sister Faye and infant brother William.
Maye is survived by her son, David Prokop and wife, Carol, Edgerton, MO; grandchildren, Douglas Prokop and wife, Kelly, Topeka, KS and Daniel Prokop and wife, Dorothee, Humble, TX; great-grandchildren, Dillon, Lauren, Julia, and Alex; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Service: 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 14th at Kuncl Funeral Home, Wilber, NE with visitation one hour prior to the service.
Burial: Wilber Czech Cemetery, Wilber, NE.
