Maxine Douglas

Maxine Douglas, 102, of Smithville, MO passed away October 11, 2017.  
 
She was born on October 13, 1914 to Joseph Dewitt and Vernie Mae (Capps) Gibbs in Milford, Missouri where she grew up and graduated from Lamar High School.  
 
Maxine was united in marriage to George Douglas in their car in Jerico Springs, MO.  After their marriage they lived in North Kansas City, MO, Edgerton, MO and in  1954 they moved to the family homestead in Paradise, MO where they made their home.  Her husband George passed away in August of 1993.
 
She was a member of the Smithville United Methodist Church and the Rebekah Lodge.  Maxine was a bookkeeper for Clay County Tractor until her retirement at the age of 93.  
 
Maxine was also preceded in death by her parents and sister Olene Purinton.
 
She is survived by her daughter Carol Dawkins and husband Bill; son Michael Douglas; grandchildren Rob Dawkins and wife Dawn, Clay Dawkins and wife Christina and Steve Dawkins and wife Chris; 10 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; sister at heart Donnie Jacoby; other relatives and many friends. 

The family would like to thank HomeInstead in Liberty, Missouri for all their special care.  

 
Visitation:  12:00-1:00 p.m. Friday October 13th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville with Graveside Service and Burial at 1:00 p.m. at Paradise Cemetery.
