Maurice “Buster” Morton
Maurice “Buster” Morton, 85, of Gower, passed away, Wednesday, March 16, 2011.
He was born on December 30, 1925 to Ralph Vincent and Irene Pearl (Yowell) Morton in Fort Collins, Colorado. He grew up and attended school in Haxtun, Colorado. Buster then served his country in the U.S. Army as a member of Patton’s 3rd Army at the Battle of the Bulge during WWII.
On October 1, 1946 he was united in marriage to Velma Hensley. After their marriage they lived in in Bakersfield, CA. In 1969 they moved to Ventura where he was an Oversees Operational Manager for Union Oil Company. In 1981 they moved to Gower, where he spent his retirement years cattle farming and spending time with his family.
He was a member of the Gower Christian Church.
Buster was preceded in death by his parents, son, Danny Morton, daughter-in-law, Kathy Morton, sisters, Maxine Randall, Betty Morton, and brother, Ralph Morton.
He is survived by his wife, Velma, of the home; son, Dennis Morton and wife, Kandy, Ventura, CA; daughters, Shirley Wheeler and husband Eddie, Sheila Mann and husband Paul, all of Gower; ten grandchildren, Shanna (Keith) Kilgore, Beth (Clint) Thompson, Becky (Matt) Schilling, Rachel (Eric) Farmer, Brandon Morton, Dusty Morton, Clancy, Ian, and Clarissa Mann, Danell (Danny) Hensley; twelve great-grandchildren, Eddie, Eric, Ethan, Luke, Carson, Lilly, Nathan, Jordan, Malana, Devon, Aidan, and Braxton; sister, Patty Morton; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Services: 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 20th at the Gower Christian Church.
Burial with Military Honors: Allen Cemetery.
Visitation: 5:00-7:00 p.m. Saturday at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower.
Donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the church.
