I was shocked and saddened to learn of Matthew’s sudden passing! I knew him through the Platte County Historical Society. He was quiet and unassuming, but an extremely talented and seemingly gentle man. He will be sorely missed. God be with you, Dawn and Josiah! It seems like I should know you, Dawn. Perhaps you went to school with my daughter, Jillian?

Dawn and Josiah , Our hearts are broken, Matthew was such a good man and faithful friend. We will be praying diligently for you through this time with the confidence of knowing that Matthew is in a much better place and with his Lord and savor. We want you to know that our relationship with your family is not over but in some sense it is just starting a new chapter. Matthew was such an important part of what we do and was such a great team member but more importantly a great friend.
We look forward to caring on his legacy at Shear Madness and hope that you can find peace and comfort in the days ahead,
Jim and Janon Otto

Hope that all the memories you shared will help you through this time of sorrow. Enjoyed Matt in my high school English classes. He was a great kid then and I am confident he became a great man, husband, and father. My thoughts are with you.

Dawn, Josiah and family Matthew was a wonderfully humble Godly man with a wonderful quirky sense of humor that so well matched yours. There are so many wonderful words that describe Matthew but are totally insufficient.. We love you and are crying out to our mutual Father for you.

Please accept my sincere sympathy on the passing of Matt. I knew Matt through his work with historical preservation and his membership in the Sons of Confederate Veterans. He had such pride in his community and in his heritage. I will always remember the tireless effort and hard work he put into the 150th Anniversary of the Battle of Camden Point. Matt gave several presentations to our group and he was always so enthusiastic. He will be sorely missed by the community.

Dawn, what can anyone say that will matter during this time? You chose a wonderful man to share your life and make a family with. It’s unfair and beyond sad that that life has been interrupted. I understand you have your faith, family, and church family, please know the love our family has for you is still ever present as is our availability should you need us. Mush love to you and your son.

Matthew will be missed, but I know he is in a much better place with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It was a pleasure meeting Matthew through the franchise! He was excellent at his craft and I know it will be hard to fill his shoes.
I will continue to pray for his family’s strength during their time of bereavement.
