Mary Lou (Kerns) Grier

Mary Lou Grier, 89, of Stewartsville, MO passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at the Gower Convalescent Center.

 

She was born on January 25, 1924 to Clifford and Leo (Sill) Kerns in Stewartsville, MO where she grew up and graduated from Stewartsville High School.

 

On February 12, 1943 she was united in marriage to George Edward Grier.  After their marriage they farmed in rural Gower, where they made their home.  Her husband passed away August 5, 2005.

 

She was also preceded in death by her parents, son, John Scott Grier and son-in-law, Bill Groom.

 

Mary Lou was a lifetime active member of the Gower Christian Church and was a member of the Chat N Nibble Club.  She was also active in the Gower PTA and enjoyed playing cards with her friends and family.  After raising her children she went to work for the East Buchanan School District.  Mary Lou was a wonderful wife and mother and will be missed my many.

 

She is survived by her son, Eddie Grier and wife Linda, Hemple, MO, six daughters, Diane Groom, Colorado Springs, CO, Rebecca Lloyd and husband Stephen, Thurman, IA, Patti Grier, Sidney, IA, Terry Beach and husband Tim, Kansas City, MO, Linda Simpson and husband Ed, St. Joseph, MO and Brenda Lull and husband Howard, Syracuse, NY; nineteen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; brother, Nelson Kerns and wife Elizabeth, St. Joseph, MO, sister, Lee Anna Kerber and husband, Gene, St. Joseph, MO; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

 

Funeral Service:  11:00 a.m. Friday March 1st at Gower Christian Church with visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m. prior to the service

Burial:  Allen Cemetery, Gower

Donations may be made to the Gower Christian Church.
