In Remembrance Of
Mary Lou (Baber) Guyer
Mary Lou Guyer, of Edgerton, MO born September 24, 1927 left this life and joined her family in heaven on January 28, 2015.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Robert and Nanny Lou Baber, her husband George Guyer, and her youngest sister, Betty Sellars.
She is survived by her children, Janice King and husband Darwin of Smithville MO, Randy Guyer and wife Mona of Emporia KS, and Michael Guyer and wife Shelly of Holt MO; her grandchildren, Chris, DJ, Aaron, Caleb, Ginny, Lauren and Casey; ten great-grandchildren; her sisters Martha Foster of Smithville MO, Patsy Montgomery of Edgerton MO,
The matriarch of her immediate and extended family, she insisted on self confidence and a no excuses attitude. As the best teachers do, she taught this by example and the occasional light scolding. She was the role model for how to be an equal partner in marriage and keeping family first.
Mary was a self taught painter and avid reader of history and autobiographies. She was active in the community as demonstrated by her involvement as a recorder and judge for local elections. She was also an active member of the Platte Country Democrats.
In their later years George and Mary enjoyed spending the colder months in the Rio Grande valley of Texas.
When you see all of the grandchildren interact and mourn their grandparents there can be no doubt about the positive and lasting influence that Mary and George had on them.

Mary was a big part of my life. She was my “other Mother”. I have so many memories of my time in her home and the road trips we took. She will always be in my heart.
