MARY L. SPENGEL

Mary Louise ?Bebe? Spengel, 80 of Plattsburg, MO, formerly of Highland, IL, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2006

She was born on April 26, 1925 to Ben and Nora (Fisher) Lampen in Carlyle, IL where she grew up and graduated from St. Mary?s High School. Some of Bebe?s favorite childhood memories were of being an athletic Tomboy. She spent most of her days playing softball, tennis, marbles, roller-skating or just riding her bike.

Bebe was united in marriage to R. James ?Jim? Spengel and they moved to Highland Illinois. Jim, preceded her in death on April 1, 1986. Before Bebe?s children were born and while they were growing up, she worked various jobs, including being a Secretary for the draft board, a bank cashier, a first grade teacher for 7 years at St. Paul Elementary School in Highland, IL, and then went on as a medical transcriptionist, bookkeeper and finally an Apartment Manager.

At the age of 47, Bebe went back to school, attending Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, where she earned a B.S. degree in Education.

Bebe was a member of St. Ann?s Parish and Altar Society in Plattsburg, Mo.

Bebe kept busy proof reading for the Clinton County Leader (a local newspaper). She also enjoyed watching the Kansas City Chiefs, playing cards and bingo, doing the scrabble puzzle from the KC Star and visiting with family and friends. Bebe says the major high point of her life was the loving relationship she has with her children, grandchildren, other family members and friends.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Mary Delores Lampen.

Bebe is survived by her the two children, the most important people in her life, Mary Susan ?Sue? Tinnen and husband, Steve, Plattsburg, MO, and Raymond John ?Jack? Spengel, Overland Park, KS, grandchildren, Elizabeth Tinnen, Jimmy Tinnen and Jason Spengel, sister, Lorraine Hummert, Breese, IL,, brother-in-law, Bob Spengel and wife, Joan, Highland, IL., other relatives and many friends.

Memorial Mass: 10:00 A.M., Saturday, January 14th, at St. Mary?s Catholic Church, Carlyle, IL, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
Inurnment: St. Mary?s Cemetery.
