Mary Jane (Gibson) Daniels

Mary
Jane Daniels, 99, of Gower, MO passed away Tuesday, September 15, 2015.

She
was born on April 10, 1916 to Shelby Lane and Maggie Lena (Thomas) Gibson near
Hemple, Missouri where she grew up and attended school.
  In 1935 she graduated from Gower High
School.
  Mary Jane later attended Business
College in North Kansas City, Missouri.

On
May 25, 1935 she was united in marriage to Mort Daniels.
  After their marriage they lived near Gower
where they farmed and made their home.
 
Her husband, Mort, passed away in 1973.

 Mary
Jane worked for Matthews Slaughter House in Gower and for Missouri Farm Bureau
Insurance Company in St. Joseph.
  She was
the first woman insurance agent in the State of Missouri.
  She later worked for the Buchanan County Assessorâ??s
Office in St. Joseph, National Bellas-Hess in North Kansas City as an
accountant and the Missouri Egg Council of Jefferson City.
  She served as Buchanan County Democratic
Committee Woman for over 35 years and served on the Sixth District
Congressional Democratic Committee of the State of Missouri.

Mary
Jane was a member of the Gower Christian Church, the Gower Stay Young Club, the
Tri-Hi Bridge Club and the Democratic Party.
 
She also served on the Allen Cemetery board.

She
was also preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter Sarah Frances;
six brothers Homer, Bill, John, Stephen, W.A. and D.F. â??Frostyâ? Gibson; and
three sisters Hilah Prescher, Mamie Chaney and Katharyn Payne.

Mary
Jane is survived by one son Stephen Douglas Daniels, Gower, MO; three daughters
Marsha Jane Arzberger and husband Gus, Willcox, Arizona, Diana Sue Whitten and
husband Forrest, Royce City, Texas, and Patricia Kay Walkup and husband Daryl,
Gower, Missouri; eight grandchildren Cristy and husband Eric, Danny, Stevie
Joe, Michael, Andy and wife Jenny, Emily, Dean and wife Andrea and Doug and
wife Ronetta; eleven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, other
relatives and many friends.
  

Funeral
Services: 10:00 a.m. Saturday September 19th at Hixson-Klein Funeral
Home, Gower

Burial:  Allen Cemetery, Gower, MO

Visitation:
6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, September 18th at the Funeral Home.

    I met Mary Jane only once and was taken with her attitude about life.  Her favorite song was ‘Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain’ and I always think of her when I sing it.
