MARY FRANCES “FRANKIE” THOMAS
Mary Frances “Frankie” Thomas, 79, of Gladstone, Mo., passed away, Tuesday, August 23, 2005.
She was born on November 1, 1925 to William Eugene and Carrie Belle (Shackelford) Griffith in Platte County, near Edgerton. She attended Ridgely Elementary School and in 1943 graduated from Edgerton High School.
In 1947 she was united in marriage to William ?Bill? Thomas. After their marriage they lived in Gladstone where they made their home. Her husband, Bill, passed away on November 24, 1995 after 48 years of marriage.
Frankie was a former member of the Ridgely Christian Church. In 1951 she became a member of the Linden Baptist Church in Gladstone where she taught Sunday School for many years, and was very active in many other church activities. She served on the Glad Fest Committee as Apple Pie Chairwoman and entered many scarecrows for the event winning several first place trophies. Frankie made numerous crafts and refinished furniture. She also served as a volunteer for the Lung and Alzheimer?s Association. Frankie was proud to have raised her two grandsons, Jamie and Jason, and nursed and cared for many family, friends, and neighbors.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Harold Griffith, one sister, Tootie Foster and two nephews, Jack and Tom Foster.
Frankie is survived by one son, Jim Thomas, Smithville, Mo., and one daughter, Kathryn Thomas, Kansas City, Mo., two grandsons, Jamie and Jason Thomas, granddaughter, Jessica Thomas, two great-grandsons, Walker Michael and Riley William Thomas, one brother, Bob Griffith and wife, Beverly, Kansas City, Mo., and their children, Karen Gill and Matt Griffith families, other numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Services: 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 26th at the Ridgely Christian Church in Ridgely, Mo.
Burial: Ridgley Cemetery
Visitation: 6:30-8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville, Mo.
