Mary L. (Sheehan) Ferguson
November 18, 1935 – December 23, 2024

Mary Ferguson, 89, of Smithville, Missouri passed away peacefully on December 23, 2024.
Born on November 18, 1935 to Harvey and Marie (Herberger) Sheehan in Kansas City, MO, Mary grew up in Arly, Missouri and graduated from Kearney High School in 1953.
On March 25, 1955 she was united in marriage to Kenneth Ferguson. The newlywed couple made their home in Smithville, Missouri.

Mary started a small wedding cake catering business in 1965; which she continued to run on the side until 1985. Mary started working at the Smithville School District as a cook. Through the years, she worked her way up to serve as the director of Food Services, which would be the position she would retire from. Mary also served meals at the Smithville Senior Center and was one of the founders of the Smithville Firefighters Ladies Auxiliary. Mary was an active member of TOPS (Taking Off Pounds Sensibly) and attended Family Worship Center; where her faith and love for others shone brightly.

She is survived by her son Mark (Valerie) Ferguson; her daughter Sherry (Gary) Wiese; grandchildren Matthew (Stacey) Wiese, Stephen (Rosie) Wiese, Bradley Wiese, and Holly (Joshua) Ellis; great-grandchildren Allyson, Jenkin, Roman, Jaxson and Lily Wiese, and Lincoln Ellis; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Ferguson; her parents, Harvey and Marie Sheehan; her brother, Robert Sheehan; and her great-grandson, Emmit Wiese.

Mary was a woman of many talents and hobbies. She loved to cook, bake, sew, craft, paint, and mow her lawn. She cherished the time spent with family and friends; always bringing warmth and joy to any gathering. Her positive attitude and kind spirit made her a beloved presence wherever she went. Mary was a loving wife, devoted mother, cherished grandmother, and friend to many.
Mary will be remembered for her unwavering kindness, joyful heart, and deep love for her family. She spread Christ’s love through her actions, touching the lives of all who knew her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to experience her warmth and generosity.

A visitation and funeral will be held at Smithville Family Worship Center on January 11, 2025. Visitation will be held from 10-11 AM with funeral services starting at 11 AM. Her burial will take place at the Community of Smithville Memorial Cemetery shortly after services. The family welcomes friends and loved ones to join them in honoring her memory. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Family Worship Center in Mary’s name.
