Mary Elizabeth Walker
Mary Elizabeth (Stewart) Walker, 89, of Independence, MO, formerly of Smithville, MO, peacefully left this life September 4, 2007 at Golden Living Center in Independence.
Mary Elizabeth Walker was born on September 27, 1917 to John Henry and Betty Jane (McCleary) Stewart in Smithville, MO. She grew up near Smithville and later graduated from Smithville High School.
On September 18, 1937 she was united in marriage to Ernest Walker. After their marriage they lived in Smithville where they made their home. They both enjoyed country music, square dancing and boating. Her husband, Ernest, passed away, December 15, 1979. In 1994 she moved to Independence to be near her daughter, Jane.
Elizabeth was a longtime member of the First Christian Church in Smithville.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, son, Jewell Walker, and daughter, Patricia Cameron.
Elizabeth is survived by her daughter, Jane Harter and husband, Donald, Independence, MO; grandchildren, Richard Cameron, St. Joseph, MO, Phyllis Wren, Santa Cruz, CA, Bruce Harter, Lawrence, KS, Lisa McGinnis, Independence, MO, and Robert Harter, Independence, MO; seven great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
Memorial Services: 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11th at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville, MO.
Private Family Inurnment at I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Smithville.
