Mary Elizabeth (Thompson) Redding
Mary Elizabeth Redding,74, of Cameron, MO., formerly of Gower, MO., passed away, Saturday, December 22, 2007 at a hospital in St. Joseph.
She was born on May 5, 1933 to Lloyd Burley and Leva Mae (Akes) Thompson in Chillicothe, MO. Mary grew up in St. Joseph, MO where she graduated from High School.
On May 21, 1954 she was united in marriage to James F. Redding. After their marriage they lived in Kansas City until 1961 when they moved to Gower where they made their home. Her husband, Jim, passed away on July 12, 2005. Mary then moved to Cameron.
Mary retired from the Boy Scouts of America after several years of service.
She attended the Town and Country Christian Church in Cameron and was a member of the Women of the Moose Lodge in St. Joseph. Mary was instrumental in starting the Senior Center in Gower and was also active in the Senior Center in St. Joseph. She also enjoyed her many trips with the V.I.P. Club in Cameron.
Mary is survived by one son, James B. Redding and wife, Merle, Cameron, MO; one daughter, Alma Trotter and husband, Phil, St. Joseph, MO; five grandchildren, Charity, William, Patrick, Delta, and Elizabeth; a great-granddaughter, Zoe, several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Services: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 27th at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower.
Burial: Allen Cemetery, Gower
Visitation: 6:30-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
There will be a gathering of Mary’s family and Friends at the Town and Country Church 1610 E. Grand in Cameron at 1:00 p.m. Thursday following the service.
